View Full Version : Some images from first 7D experience
So it arrived today. Hurray! Very excited to be holding this new bad boy.
Just shot some stuff of my girlfriend and I in the basement watching the Hockey game tonight. Lighing was horrible and i was usinga 18-55mm 3.5-3.5 zoom. Garbage lol.
They are all graded for fun :) The codec holds up very well againts some heavy grading, as seen in the first few images:

Looks good! More girlfriend less flowers please :)
Be careful, don't go making something naughty and... not... show it to us!

Well, your pics answered my question. Unfortunately, your girlfriend is quite attractive. Could we get away from that cliche and see some girlfriends who are plain-looking?
lol
Im really digging this new cam!

congrats,
the lens doesn't seem to be that bad ?
it's just very slow.
I was shooting at 800 ISO in video mode. Would have preferred to stay closer to 400.
a few more:
This image was dropped in contrast in post to match how it looked when opened in quicktime. Inside the editor, it made the image quite a bit more contrast heavy. I liked the clean flat look, reminded me of raw RED footage.

a few more. These are duplicated shots that were done using the XH A1 for a feature film, but then after the take i grabbed my 7D and replicated to shot to see how it would compare in the end.

Here are some grabs from work, they are a little soft focus and both have slightly different grading.

Just ran a couple more tests, and it seems that in terms of sharpness settings, 0, regardless of your focus leaves the sharpest portion of your image still reasonably soft, you start seeing sharpening artifacts at sharpness 4, so using either sharpness 2 or 3 will yield nice results.

why not..
I think this was at sharpness 4. So either 2 or 3 would be best.
took these one sneakily on the train today on my way downtown.
