Odd distortion in my composition

[Hawk Teflon]

I shot some video 2 weeks ago, captured it, and started editing when I noticed some weird distortion in it. I checked the tape, and it looked fine on the tape, so I recaptured, hoping for the best. It seemed fine. However, when I render the sequence it gives me this weird distortion on vertical lines. I'll include a picture of the same frame in the viewer and the canvas at the bottom:

Also note, this doesn't happen if I keep the timeline at the regular setting of 4x3. But when I changed it to 864x486 for 16x9, it has to be rendered, thus giving me the weird result:

I'm curious as well. At first I thought it be your canvas and viewers window sizes, but it's not. Just did a little test, here's what I'm getting with a D90 (this is probably because it's a D90). Not sure why D90 footage does this, but have looked past it lately.
