This is my first DVX fest so I'm trying to understand
ie. People will go to:
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/forumdisplay.php?f=182
On Halloween night and there will be a link saying "Watch
the films HERE", then after people watch each film they
need to come back to the thread to vote...etc?
Thanks for any details / tips

The way it's been set up in the past is the page where you link from is also the page where you go back and vote. So, yes, after you watch the film, you can go back and vote. But not everybody can vote. I think they changed it to only people with at least 50 posts on here. I'd double check the fest rules section on that though.

You are correct Marlon...you get to vote if you have entered a film...or have 50 posts!
TMerry... you can never vote!:D

"Anyone who is a registered DVXuser Member will be eligible to rate the films. However, only those persons ratings with 50 posts or more, (or if you are a submitting filmmaker) will determine the Finalists and the Winners of the festival acknowledgments and prizes (if any)."
So really, it's only the people who are already on this forum as regular members who's votes will count towards a win.
The rest are just for the fun of it, unless your like Zaza who has 15 aliases on this forum, all with 51 posts each LOL! ;-)

By submitting the 50 posts thing is waived, or you are just given credit for them. So your vote will count.

Hey Chris, thanks,
by "waived" does that mean if people who are currently non-members,
sign up (who are legitimate of course) , watch all the films and vote, their votes will have some weight in the voting process?
Thanks!
I'm trying to understand the scope of the voting and rating process for these contests.

No, just you. If you submit something your vote counts. Everyone else still needs the 50 posts etc. This keeps people from sending all their friends over to vote.

...that's the only way I can get 15 vote on my films!
(funny thing is, they're all 1's & 2's...hummmm?)

It's a rating system that is supposed to be based on the reception of the film. You;re supposed to rate it on how good you think it was, not on how well you want it to perform. The system is supposed to stop voter fraud by keeping it within the community so it doesn't turn into a popularity contest by how many people you can get to come and vote on your film.
It's the anti-YouTube system. Sure everyone has a voice. Only those actually involved in the community get to use their voices.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the info!
In that case, I'm canceling my google adsense add that states
"Come vote for my indie for a chance to win a starring roll next to
Matthew McConaughey & Katherine Heigl, in my next block buster film!" j/k LOL!
