Hi,

I got sent a 2 camera wedding shoot that was shot on Sony HDV cameras. 1 camera was filmed 1080-24P and the other was recorded 108060i.

First of all can these clips both be edited on the same timeline, and the other question is Will I have problems exporting.
I have the sequence preset to 108024p. I'm running FCP 6.0.5 Studio 2.

I'm kind of in panic mode here because these are big clients. So if there is a solution please let me know.

I hope there is some way I can get around this

thanks,

Robin

The 1080 24P footage was shot with Sony Z7U
1080 60i footage was shot with the Sony V1U

did you remove the pulldown of the 24p footage? if you haven't, don't...

you'll want to edit on a 1080i60 timeline.

Hey thanks, I actually figured it out earlier looking at another post with a similar issue.
So basically I captured as HDV-I guess as an auto version. So it captured both in their native frame rates they were shot in.

I just created a new sequence/timeline for 1080-60i as you stated.
So when I export for High Quality playback I guess I will export as HD 1080-60i-Its basically a trailor/teaser for promotion displayed on 40" Samsung LCD.

I'm just wondering will the 24p give me any playback issues in the edit?

No, but its frame-rate will. Edit timebase is different, one is 29.97 the other 23.98.
Normally 24PsF material comes in at 60i, but if it was shot in HDV24F not 24PsF then you'll get 23.98 w/o pulldown, mixing frame-rate/timebase does not work well/smoothly in any NLE.

Just an FYI you'll prob want to capture this to ProRes422 not into HDV or AIC. (Its an option in Final Cut 6.0.5) at 1440x1080 4:2:2 vs. HDV 4:2:0 or AIC 4:2:0

I'm doing a long-form edit of some HDV sourced material, (50+ tapes from 4 different camera models) I had to run compressor for days converting stuff shot in HDV-60i to 24 due to issues with nested sequences edit time-base not being compatible. Some have pull-down at 23.98, some have no pull-down. (depending on whether its Cannon, Sony and what model.).
