HMC150 is coming in the mail tomorrow! I'm sure I'm going to have a lot to tinker with, but thought I'd ask the question ahead of time to save me some heartache. I've got a question regarding frame rates and progressive, non progressive footage. I shoot a lot of weddings and would like to produce my first Bluray disc.

I have been shooting 1080i on a Sony FX1 for the past 3 years so the idea of 60P, 30p and 24p are new to me. I would like to shoot in 30p or 24p because I hate the "video" look. In the past I would record 60i and then use Vegas to render 24p using pulldown. Now that I'll have a camera that can shoot progressive my question is what settings (on camera and also on NLE) should I use to produce both DVD and Blu Ray.

I will be using the 1080i cam and a 720 30p DSLR in addition to the Panny. So 30p on that as well? I also do a bit of slo-mo so 60p came into play. Oh, the choices!!! Thought I would record 1080/60i on FX1, 720/30p on DSLR, and 720/30p on HMC150 and then render the entire project to 720/30p. However, I don't recall seeing a preset on my Blu Ray authoring program for 720 30p. So should I be shooting 24p in the Panny? Confused, please point me in the right direction.

THANKS!

However, I don't recall seeing a preset on my Blu Ray authoring program for 720 30p.

The reason there is no preset is that blu-ray has no 30p. Blu-ray supports 720p60, 720p50 and 720p24. Edit in 30p but render the 30p timeline as 60p by duplicating frames. H264 will compress 60p with duplicated frames almost as efficiently at 30p. Don't use motion interpolation or blend frames when converting 30p to 60p because that will lose the 30p look.
