I didnt like his voice and even my girlfriend was like "what is that??" lol. i also think the dancing looked unnatural to me. i'm not trying to bash the guy as i understand that being an impersonator is hard work. he just didnt do it for me. :)

They are some pretty big shes to fill!
We are trying to cut some fluff out and would want to cut out what doesn't 'work' for the viewers.

I like the tracking shot at 2:01 but then it feels like it pauses, is that with your home made dolly? I want to make one for music videos!

Vimeo is messing up a little there, it keeps jumping around pausing anywhere from 2:00 to 2:10 randomly... errr
And yeah, the dolly worked pretty well...

I like it... Assuming since you said that the VO is just for timing that it is not going to be that guy. I do not like his voice. I think that the footage looks awesome...

I think that the effect on her voice is nice but maybe just a touch to much. Something still seems off to me. Maybe that there is to much time of the act between VO's. Not sure. I guess I am thinking of something that is like 45 sec or so. I find myself wanting to skip through the video... Not real sure what the purpose of the video is. But if it is something of a teaser or to get people to want to see the show I think it needs to be shorter. Again just my opinion, and we all know about other peoples opinions :). Like I said before I think that the footage looks awesome.
Do you edit native ANCHD or is it transcoded to something else?

I like the footage but also agree with Phil B, if its a teaser it needs to be a little shorter... what frame size/rate did you use for this?

I hear you guys...
The client wanted something to send out as a preview of the show (to his clients). Its suppose to be over 2.5 min :P
I tend to agree with you guys, Maybe a combination of more voice over with shorter runs between... I should try a 1 minute version for kicks...
It was all shot 720/30p, transcoded to HDV with AVCHD2HQ, edited in Vegas and exported MP4. I really liked the outcome.

Looks like the client needs a 1:20 version now! Stay tuned...
Also better voice over should be in tonight...
Update: cancel that...

Nice work. The video - blacks especially - look great.
Any chance you would share your settings/scene files? - and other aspects of your production/workflow to keep the blacks from going grainy?
Good luck with your project.

Thanks akaBt, sure I used the spark F3 setting basically, toned it down a little and lowed the master ped down -2. That's what will get noise out of your blacks...
Never any gain!

The video is pretty awesome and your edit is great. I think he 's a good dancer and plays that part well but man, he deffo sings out of key. In Billie Jean, he's nearly 2 semi tones flat. I know you haven't posted this to judge him, its not a talent contest, but he's not the greatest singer and you've lived up to your end of the bargain!

Thanks Shaun,
Yeah, I agree with you... HD actually makes it much harder to fool the audience. The 1st 2 times I saw him perform I thought he was great. When you look at the captured video, when he is the main focus, you loose that big show feeling and can see more flaws.
Like you said - I was responsible for the video :)

Wow that guy is pretty terrible IMO. He doest have much soul. MJ was energy at all times something these guys seem to lack Looks like it would be a blast to shoot these guys but I'm afraid I would just lose it and LMAO at some points during the shoot.
Video looks nice and clean.
