Why is this subforum in Off Topic anyway?

I'm a bit disappointed that there is so little discussion on shooting film here.
Shouldn't be this one level up with it's own forum, sub forums for 8 to 35mm formats? Why 'Off Topic', the forum is about film making.

I can only guess, but seems rather logic to me that there is not much going on because it's really hidden.

I think it might be because this is primarily a "video" forum. Or maybe a digital acquisition forum.

I love film, but it's expensive - and it makes me sad. But what's worse is SD transfers to mini-dv from film*. That makes me depressed.

*common film school practice.

I was actually wondering about that. What is the drawback with SD transfer to Mini DV and what would you recommend?
