Sometimes you just get a good, wholesome story out of these things, and this is one of those fairy-tale endings. Good show!

Agreed.
Just too bad it will always be remembered in connection with that 'foot fault' fiasco.

I dunno . . . the images of her daughter playing with the trophy may help blunt that some. It's the way I intend to think of it, anyway.

One of the best sports stories ever. Came back from retirement and wins a major title in only her third tournament back. Thoroughly outplayed the (uncrowned) women's #1, and defending champion, Serena. Foot fault or not, Clijsters was going to win that match.
I agree with David, the foot-fault thing will not taint this win. It'll be remembered on its own; five years from now people will remember the image of a furious Serena acting outrageously at that lineswoman, but probably won't remember who she was playing against -- how many people remember Connors' opponent in his 1991 tantrum? Or McEnroe's opponent in the famous "you cannot be serious" episode?
Clijsters went into retirement, gave birth, got back in shape, and picked up right where she left off. Awesome!

Plus, Wozniacki is a feel-good story in her own right. She's got nothing to be ashamed of, and certainly has great things to come -- and her journey also includes the fantastic Melanie Oudin story. A lot of things that are right about the sport, in stark contrast to the things that are wrong. I'm glad the right stuff came out on top!
