For my part the only reason I waited before buying a gh1 was the fact that in journalism constraints like audio sync makes the work impossible.

I needed to stick with the HVX-200. I really hope magic lantern gets the sound out of the way for 7D.

After that problem is solved we just need to fix : no digital viewfinder + anti aliasing + no preamp XLR solution + proper handling solution and we are in business.

While we are at it they should sell a package like this:

Canon 7D body 1700$
Juicebox: 300$
Sock Loupe VF 80$
total: 2080$

And that's without lenses and the rest of the gear (memory cards, mic, etc.). I think it's a bargain when you don't need to put up with mud and sync for gh1 and rolling shutter and expensive price for 5D mark ii!

i too am a video journalist. my usual kit is my hmc150. but i've pre ordered a 7d and i plan to use it a lot for my more planned video pieces. breaking news will still be mostly with the hmc. but i'm hoping that the magic lantern will work with the 7d. i'm probably going to be using almost the same kit that you are but with zacuto z-finder and dslr rapid fire. i have a zoom h4, but i'd rather not to have to do sync sound but i can deal with it off the bat if need be.
