Will this camera get good results with the kit lens or is it going to have to be 2.8 lens?
I've only got Nikon lenses.

Also if you use an adapter do you lose anything?

Also if you use an adapter do you lose anything? With an adapter the problem is that you lose the main character as it disappears on the recorded image. You better stick with the lens that comes in the box. I think... We should test it.

I've used the 35-135 for years on my 30D. It's a great lens that won't disappoint. I am however upgrading to the L series just for that extra boost in quality.

Can I jump on this thread and ask a question about this lens as well - can anyone tell me a situation where a f stop 3.5 is going to be a liability and I need a faster lens? I don't want to pay tons of money for something that I'll rarely need - yet why throw away the extra money for this lens if I'm going to be grabbing a 2.8 or 1.4 lens for most of my shoots (I shoot primarily short narrative films with limited lighting kits - i.e. 1k max and china balls).

the kit lens seems like it would do well in daylight but I will get something better for indoor shots and low light.

Depends on what you wanna shoot. For indoor stuff, you can always set up more lights.

Yeah - It's usually indoor sets - and like I said a very limited light kit - so what f-stop do you think I should grab...any lens suggestions (looking for a standard mid-range lens and a zoom to cover the rest).

I would start with the tamron 17-50 2.8 and a cheap canon EF 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 prime. Just get the best rated stuff you can afford at the focal lengths you need.

I'm liking the Canon 28mm f/1.8 with the kit. I'm torn between the Tonkia 11-16 f/2.8 and the Tamaron 17-50 2.8 and am not too sure I need either. I shoot mostly corporate stuff in available office light but the 28mm 1.8 might be all I really need. Thoughts?

What would be a good standard lens...28mm...35mm...50mm? I'm now leaning towards just picking up the kit lens and then getting one more that is slightly faster at a mm range that I would use the most (again, narrative stuff - nothing crazy - people in apartments talking etc.) - pardon my ignorance on focal lengths while I sue my film school for just handing us DVXs ;)

You are lucky they are using DVX's

Haha true - I suppose they could have given us some really cheap cameras and let that be it!
