ok so since ive been filming wakeboarding my camera has been way to close to water for comfort. 1 spray of water was enough to almost make me cry and ever since then ive been having nightmares of my hvx falling n sinking into the obyss. so i want to sleep at night. what are some good ways to make sure my nightmare doesnt come true. i want a nice housing, but there a little pricy. and i odnt trust epic brand. WWJD?

The camera would float above water, no housing necesary

It sounds like you are working primarily at the surface. So, a Ewa Marine bag sounds like what you need. I have one. It works well and keeps the camera dry. It can go as deep as ten meters.

Plus, by going with a bag over a housing you aren't adding a lot of weight to your hand held rig.

I am going to echo what Jim wrote. I have a EWA Marine Bag, and while its thinner PVC than I would prefer, its pretty much what you need. Also, after you get the bag, post your footage! Shooting in and around water, requires a different approach, but the footage can be loads of fun.

Also, if you go with the Ewa marine bag apply some Rain X on the port before using. It will keep spots, drips and spots from forming.

I shoot wakeboarding with the Ewa bag and it's great. Just got to get used to the metal bar in your forehead :)
