I've been trying to get this to work on my computer for the last 4 or 5 hours now, with no luck.

My premiere pro cs3 tells my that .mxf is not supported and no where on the internet is there a codec to fix this.

So my question is, how can I get my P2 footage from my camera to my computer (PC) and able to use in Premiere.

Please help, I'm desperate.

EDIT

By patching down to 3.1 in premiere, i was able to get it to work. But I do have another question. If I want to quickly dump my files from my p2 Card onto my computer, how do i do so? I can import into Premiere, but the camera has to stay connected for the files to stay. And if i drag straight out of the VIDEO folder from the p2 card, I loose the audio. Any ideas?

You need to have the latest update of Premiere Pro CS3. Make sure that you do -- I believe 3.2 was the version which added the functionality.

Is there some way to capture and store to the computer, so I can disconnect? Or do I need a separate program?

How are you transferring your P2 media to your PC?
I transfer my P2 media from the camera to my laptop via the PCMCIA slot. Just click and drag the files on the P2 card to
the laptops hard drive.

I have the camera connected via USB2.0. When I drag the video files, I only get video. And there are tons more audio files in the audio folder. However, when I import with Premiere, I get the whole A\V file. Is there a way to stash my folders on my drive as both audio and video mxf's?

Like iTunes can Consolidate library kind of thing, maybe?

Believe it or not, the problem went away. Suddenly I can transfer straight from the video film to my computer with full audio and video.

Sadly I can't give any insight as to why.

But thanks for the help.

You should transfer your P2 files using P2 Viewer. This is the most reliable way of doing it without purchasing software (like P2Forge).

Barring that, in Windows Explorer, you should move the whole Contents folder. If you're only moving the Video folder or individual MXF files IN the video folder, you aren't getting the audio or any other useful info. Keep the Contents folder and all the subfolders intact.
