Simple as that. I have a big client coming up for a music video and a friend of mine will lend me his HVX200 along with (1) 16G (3) 8G P2 cards for the shoot. But would it be worth it to rent the 200a for $350 like my last music video and just borrow his cards additionally?

Is the difference worth it? Because i could easily use the 430 on something else...

thanks!

The 200A will have less noise and more sensitivity. If you've got adequate lighting, the sensitivity is a non-issue. So the question is whether $430 is worth the noise difference, and only you can answer that one...

Thanks barry, i would also any other input....would it be worth it. I'm using the SgBlade and a set of Ziess super speeds..shouldn't it be a no brainer for the 200a? But then again it is 350 dollars out of the budget....

Dillon,

I have 200, 200a and 170. If I were in your place I'd be going for the 200a no question.

I'm always pushing my images and the 200a gives me a lot more smooth crisp images than the 200 ever could. The improvement in low light may not seem big on paper but in the field its literally night and day for me. I can run filters, shoot in lower light situations and get away with stuff that would burn me on the 200.

But really, if you can get your hands on an HPX170 your in for a real treat. Far superior focus assist, waveform monitor and reverse display! These will become very nice for you when using a 35mm adapter.

Personally, if you have the light, don't worry about the difference between the 200 and 200a.....and if it's a friend, then show some love!!!! rent it from him! Favors are nice, but money is even nicer.

If the shoot includes a bright scene with lots of light then don't worry about the difference. However, if you're going for a dark look, you should consider the 200a.
