Thinking of getting one and my friend asked me about battery life when shooting video. So I figured I would ask here

The manual says one can expect about 1 hour and 20 minutes at room temperature. Cold decreases battery life. The included battery charger requires at least 2.5 hours to recharge a battery.

if the performance of the 5d mk2 is any indication - and they use the same battery - you are going to want at least 3 batteries to do a days work of shooting video - one in the camera, one ready and one on a charger at all times.
When the 5D M2 came out, there was a shortage of batteries for a bit. Not sure if that will happen again or not.
Be advised that 3rd party batteries often need their own charger and also lack a chip that canon batteries have that tell you how much battery is left.
