Okay, lots of info to find out, I apologise!

I'm an old XL1S user. Always loved it. But looking to upgrade to an HD format, pretty asap.
I love the FRAME MODE capture on the XL1. It gave the movement a great filmic quality. And when you added the min35, it looked like 16mm footage.

From what I've seen, all the 'test' people shoot with the Panny and Sony, the movement still feels very digital. Is this the 24p I've been hearing so much about?

1st question: Does the Canon XLH1 have a FRAME MODE equivalent?
2: Which camera has better 'movement'? Panny or Sony?
3. Which is better in low light? P or S?

I've been out of the DV game for a while and lot can happen in 3 years!

Cheers fellas!

Welcome miguel.

Let me first start by encouraging you to use the search function. Not because This is one of those "find it your self" kind of forums, but there is a wealth of information on this forum and much of it would be posted around the time of the release dates of the cameras you asked about. So give a search .

It would also help to know your intended use of the camera. Weddings, corporate, music videos etc.

The camera market is flying right now. What ever you buy will be trumped in 6 months by a latest greatest so buying the camera that fits YOUR individual needs is much more important then grabbing the sexiest cam off the block.

In my opinion I would not buy a tape based camera at this point. That would eliminate the H1, which shoots a really nice picture and is a great cam but I would look into the 170 or the Ex1. perhaps even a VDSLR depending on your needs

Welcom to DVXUSER and good luck.

much movement : Panny
not much movement : Sony

Personally I like the "use it anywhere" status of the Panny HVX-200/HPX-170. If I was doing more static scenic stuffs I'd go with a Sony.
