I'm not even sure I have the authority to call this the "official" anything, but maybe a MOD can back me up with this one. This is not a thread for discussion necessarily, but rather for a request and provide relationship between those who are lucky enough to have access to the 7D currently (and those who will own the 7D within a few weeks) and those who are considering buying the 7D. Not everyone is going to jump on the bandwagon initially, so I for one think this resource would be a huge help in making any sort of decision about buying the camera.

It is a guarantee that the camera will be the same, but not everyone will use it the same way, or have the same lenses, or shoot in the same scenarios. If we pool all of our resources together then we should be able to meet 90% of the demand for specific clips.

Please post your requests in a clear, concise and polite manner so it will be easier to track requests. Remember those who are participating are doing so on their own free time and are not obligated by any means to fulfill said requests. Barry Green initiated a similar thread last year when the Panasonic AG-HMC150 was in his possession and the results were very positive. Thanks to all who help out in advance!

Now, with that out of the way, I for one would love to see the depth of field capable from this camera and the resultant bokeh using a very fast f/1.2 or f/1.4 lens shot at varying focal lengths. No specific lens request, I'll just take what you got.

I'd like to see side by side comparisons of the d5mk2 and the 7d using the same lens in low light situations with high ISO levels, both shooting at same frame rate (30p) so that we can judge how well the new 7D footage looks compared to the good results we have seen from the 5D mk2 at ISOs above 800.

I'd also like to see a side by side clip that tried to make a comparison that illustrates the strength of the higher bitrate of the 7D. Perhaps a moving shot with a tight patterned, moire inducing clothing item on a subject. One easy test is to walk down the produce or flower aisle in a supermarket and just let a riot of color and texture pass by the lens.

Also, side by side wide landscape shots that try to illustrate the difference in quality of wide angle nature shots. One camera would shoot with an L series lens and the other with a EF-S lens trying to duplicate the field of view.

Then, side by side real world comparisons that address rolling shutter issues, motion artifacts, etc. Pan or tracking shots with a jogger against a picket fence.

Of course, to judge any of these clips it would be necessary to be able to download the real clip, not look at a web version... or at the very least post to a site like smugmug that allows full 1080 streams.
