View Full Version : Has anyone else noticed this with the 7D (or 5D for that matter)

The actual resolution from the video clips at 1080p is 1920x1088, not 1920x1080. Can anyone confirm this is the case with the 5D Mark II as well??

It shouldn't matter. I remember some SD cameras added a little extra pixels to prevent a line at the bottom or top of the footage.

1920 × 1080 for the 5d footage according to my clips.

I don't know if Scarlet has a chance now. Those 8 lines of extra vertical resolution are going to help the 7D totally dominate the industry!

I have actually read that before on 5d footage. I kind of figured it was a mistake.

My 5d raw footage shows as 1920x1088 according to windows properties as well.

Satellite HD TV is often broadcast with 1088 lines, so this is not a fluke. ATSC is supposed to be 1080 though.
Still, I don't understand why exactly Canon chose to use 1088 lines instead of well-known 1080.
