The actual resolution from the video clips at 1080p is 1920x1088, not 1920x1080. Can anyone confirm this is the case with the 5D Mark II as well??

It shouldn't matter. I remember some SD cameras added a little extra pixels to prevent a line at the bottom or top of the footage.

I don't know if Scarlet has a chance now. Those 8 lines of extra vertical resolution are going to help the 7D totally dominate the industry!

I have actually read that before on 5d footage. I kind of figured it was a mistake.

My 5d raw footage shows as 1920x1088 according to windows properties as well.

Satellite HD TV is often broadcast with 1088 lines, so this is not a fluke. ATSC is supposed to be 1080 though.
Still, I don't understand why exactly Canon chose to use 1088 lines instead of well-known 1080.
