I want to get my hands on a 7d ASAP, so I'm thinking of pre-ordering from best buy or Tiger. but if the reviews end up being negative, i'll want to cancel. Can I do that?

Usually, yes. Best thing to do is call customer service.

I called Tiger and YES, you can cancel at any time without fee's. When you place a pre-order with them, a credit card number is run to acquire an authorization code, but not charged. Then when they get the camera, the card is charged, the camera is automatically sent out, and an automated email is sent to you.
