Looking at the 7D it's a little disappointing that the 720p mode also doesn't support 24/25/30p along with its 50/60p. That would give you a good range of regular to slow motion or regular to fast motion all at that resolution.

So I'm curious, how well do you think the 1080p and 720p video will mix, assuming you downrez the 1080 to 720? Will the 1080 stuff look sharper? That's sort of what I'm assuming right now.

What about going the other way? I know it's generally not good to uprez, but if you need some slo-mo shots and the rest of your film is 1080, do you think it will be a viable option?

I was thinking about this earlier...is there any logical reason that 720 mode doesn't support 24/25/30p? Seems to me that if it could do 60, it could do the slower framerates...

Then again I guess this harkens back to the 5d mkII deal of getting 24p out of a camera that already shoots 30p.

I just tried with some sample clips uprezzing the 720. It blends very very well once rendered. I definitely look forward to utilizing this!

Since it does 50p and 60p, just drop every other frame and post and.... magic! 25p and 30p @ 720.

Actually, according to Imaging Resource's tests, the 720p modes actually look less compressed than the 1080p modes for some reason. And with the bit rate already so high, I doubt that you'll see any difference between the 720p60/50 and a theoretical 720p24/25/30.
