Phillip Bloom is reporting that Sony has confirmed an incompatibility between SxS and the New MAC OS.
Via Twitter.
@phillipbloom "sony have confirmed that XDCAM software is not compatible with Snow Leopard. Could be a long wait. DON"T UPGRADE!!"

Thanks for the heads-up. Hopefully it won't take months to get the drivers re-written for 10.6, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
And to anyone out there surprised by this, don't be. If you use your system to make money and have clients who depend on your consistent, predictable workflow, never upgrade until you have the time, or have no choice. Personally, I'm looking at a Thanksgiving/Christmas upgrade window. Plenty of down-time, and hopefully any incompatibilities will be ironed out by then.

this shouldn't take long to fix. most software packages have their updates ready to go as soon as a new o.s. rolls out. then a few will lag a bit. if sony takes more than a week or two, then maybe they dropped the ball...
more importantly, never upgrade your o.s. until the first patch has been released. apple is notorious for using early adopters as final beta testers. i guarantee snow leopard is still buggy as hell at this point. i can wait months....

I've got Snow Leopard on MacPro quad 2.8 and all works fine. XDCAM transfer and Log&Transfer at FCP both work OK. The SxS card are recognized by the system. No problems with the standard XDCAM EX workflow.

I think the problem is reading the cards in the ExpressCard slot of the MacBook Pros. The SxS driver for that (I believe) is the problem some people are having. So your workflow may be fine, but others not so much.

The Panasonic drivers will not install either. P2 card will not mount using Duel Systems adapter in ExpressCard slot. Not surprised.
In my mind, this is one more reason to move away from proprietary hardware (P2 & SxS) and support flash media such as SD cards or Compact Flash cards.

Panasonic drivers installed to Snow Leopard alright for me. I've used my PCD35 to read cards into Final Cut and via Shotput Pro. I had no problems with the Panasonic drivers when I upgraded my previous Leopard install to Snow Leopard, and also when I did a Clean Install of Snow Leopard and then installed the drivers from scratch.
I am experiencing unreliable sleep (ability to wake up) on my machine since going to Snow Leopard, but that happened on Leopard as well, and that's solvable. I just haven't had time to fix prefs and reset the machine (Mac Pro) by unplugging everything.

Well, just as I typed the message above, I got an email from Panasonic saying:
"1.P2 driver software for Mac OS 10.4 & 10.5 are NOT compatible
with the recent Mac OS X version 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
For the following drivers/software, upgrade are being planned
for the Mac OS 10.6.
- IEEE1394b driver for AJ-PCD20 series
- PCI express(PCIe) driver for AJ-PCD35 series
- P2 Card formatter for Mac
- P2 Contents management software (P2CMS) for Mac
"
Well, it's working so far for me! I'll let you know if my computer explodes...
On a related note: Panasonic couldn't get this news out to people before Friday? It's not like developers didn't have access to this build beforehand. It would have been nice for Panasonic to put something on their many web sites about Snow Leopard compatibility so customers could go into the upgrade with full disclosure.
