Dead pixels can be really annoying if in the centre of the screen, it it is on the side (the black bars), then no problems !
Also you should shoot different tests such as a white surface, a black one (also do a closed iris test) and a grey surface (try to lit it correctly to see it the chip is in good condition)
! Check if it is a HVX200 or a HVX200a, the a version has a improves sensibility. !
Enjoy !

Some manufacturers allow up to 5% of pixels to be dead. In Europe where "customer is not always right" you can be laughed at if you decide to return a camera or an LCD monitor with 1 or 2 dead pixels. This is considered normal, though I would hate to have an LCD monitor with a dead pixel. The camera LCD would not bother me much, I guess.
yeah, i wouldnt care about dead pixels in the camera lcd - unless there were like 20

Keep in mind that you will probably be eventually using an external monitor if you plan to shoot HD. So it might not be such a burden if the price is right ;-)
Based on the little info you supplied, hard to tell if it's a good deal or not. You can pick up a new HVX200a for a little over 4K so if the numbers work for you, then I would surely test the camera before you trade for it. You should be able to test most critical operations and modes by shooting with it for a few days. Good luck!
