I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't get the footage I just shot on my HVX200A in 720p24p into Avid MC 3.0. I followed all the instructions in the Firestore manual: did "organize reel" at first in the firestore, that didn't work. So I tried "organize P2," copied the files from the "contents" folder into a new folder I created, then went to Media Tool and tried to copy the clips, NO CLIPS SHOWED UP in Media Tool. Nothing. What am I doing wrong?

I'm having a similar problem in final cut pro 6. The MXF files are grayed out. Refuses to import them. I thought FCP was supposed to treat the MXF files as P2 format? Help, please. I have a MacBook Pro running tiger, FCP 6, and yes, I have imported media from P2 card without an issue. The Firestore seems to be giving major problems. I can play the clips back in the camera, so I know they are there. They just refuse to import into either AVID MC or Final Cut Pro!

Your workflow was almost correct for getting Firestore P2 material into AVID MC. When done shooting hit "Organize P2" on the Firestore (like you did) once hooked up to the computer you can either (A) drag the contents folder from the Firestore to the computer (you have to maintain the file structure from "contents" on down, even creating a new "contents" folder on your computer then dragging over the internal folders will cause a conflict and the media won't be acessible) or (B) open MC, open an appropriate project (with matching frame size and rate) open a bin, under file>importP2>clips to bin. You'll get a window to navigate to the location of the "contents" folder. And if you don't want to bother with (A) you can navigate directly to the Firestore. The clips should pop up in the bin, but keep in mind the media is still either on the Firestore (or if you've dragged the contents folder over) or on your desktop, not in your AVID media files folder, so MC can't keep track of the file locations unless its running. If you shut down without importing the P2 media, or consolodating the clips, the next time you launch the clips will come up as off-line. If that happens, and hopefully you have the contents folder backed up, just go through the "import P2>clips to bin" process in a new bin. It won't relink the original master clips, but since the clips have the same name, TC, and project affiliation, any sequences you've used them in will pop back on-line.
good luck
