I always try to get a new piece of gear for each new film.
This time it's probably going to be an omni-tracker... or a
Jib... or both... Doesn't hurt to dream.

What are YOU getting? What did MonsterFest motivate you to buy?
(alcohol and lobster don't count :-)

I think I am going to get a Glidecam 4000 Pro...

Lots of uses for the zaza slider, buy an extra rail and slide plate then you can have straight on shots that push forward and pull back by sliding one rail over the other with the camera mounted on the very end.

The new zaza dolly slider :)

I built a helmet mount myself. Looking for a good dolly build now.

OMG! You guys won't let up on the ZazaSlider!! LOL! :-D)))

Nitsuj: A Helmet mount, I love it. I hope you have a whole 35mm adapter rig with flip
and a zoom lens all balancing up there. I want to see a pic ;-)

Buying a 503HDV head today and a new set of monitors for my editing corner...I mean suite.

I didnt buy it for MonsterFest, but because I purchased it immediately prior to the fest I made heavy use of it ... the Easyrig 3 Cinema. Every shot but one of my entry uses it. Also, my short was my maiden voyage with the new Red Pro Primes

Maybe some lights. I need small-ish lights for a small-ish room, and the kits I have access to might be too big and bulky. But, I should finish my script before I start buying gear, I suppose.

I concur. If history's a lesson, all you need is a RED, 2 hands, and you're good to go.

I mean, without a focus puller you won't see the actors, and if you can't see the actors why use a script?

Built a dolly and bought a Merlin.

I may end up purchasing a Slider. I'll be in some tight places and the slider will help me get set up and breakdown fast without the hassle of tracks and a dolly.

Who says you need a focus puller to win a fest?

:P

also, Shawn, when can we see some grabs?

Wait, you mean to tell me that someone can actually pull focus for you instead of doing it yourself?

This is crazy talk. Matty, have you heard of this before?

Not everyone can be awesome enough to multi-task without their brain hurting.

I had a relative build me a diy dolly. Plan to also get After Effects, finally!

I had a focus puller on a music video once. He was rather kick ass.

Marlon: I plan on getting AE too, maybe some other vfx proggies as well. Went to the apple store today and they did not carry it :-(

Re: Focus Pulling... I heard that stunts your film (I mean growth)

I guess you could also grab whatever PA isn't already booming the shot and have him pull focus...

Matty_g

focus pulling is not something i would trust to a pa.

Depends on the PA. When I can't find other work, I PA too. And I can certainly pull some focus :)

Arriflex D21.

(J.K.)

You had me going there for a minute, I was feeling a bit of envy :zombie_smiley:

Got a bit carried away, but have been wanting these and this film justified them:

- smallHD
- Omni-tracker and drum roll please ///////////////////////// *

a new bulb for my Arri 150 that's been burned out for over a year LOL!

A Follow Focus and a Monitor Arm is all that's left on my list and I'll be done with my shopping till early 2112 :-)

I'm looking at getting the SmallHD as well. Looks like the best combination of features, quality, and price.

I invested in a couple new filters, gels, built a small light, and finished a dolly that was a year and a half in the making (made it for my Lovefest entry but we never finished the track).

I wish our film was something small enough to hit the six minute mark.

Let me know if you do, i've been really eyeing it for my Red, i'd love to test it out. True 720p with HDMI in for $799 is a hell of a deal
