Crop factor and edges

I've been thinking about Crop factors a lot lately and something occurred to me.

At a reasonable fstop most lenses will perform fairly decently. One of the signs of a quality lens is the absence of vignetting, chromatic aberattion, and edge sharpness wide open. The thing is, when you're using a Full Frame 35mm lens, the sensor will crop much of those imperfections out.

So in theory, you should get somewhat better performance out of FF 35mm lenses on a gh1 than on the 5Dmkii no?

Yes and no. Yes because you're using the sweet spot. No because the pixel density requires higher resolving lenses. Though that is less of an issue with most modern optics.
