View Full Version : Why does the footage skip?

I have viewed many awesome looking videos of the GH1 on vimeo, but what concerns me is that they all seem to skip a few frames when tracking.
I see it a lot and wonder if it's my computer or that the GH1 drops frames or has some flaw.
Can someone set me straight? Thanks

It's more than likely your computer having trouble with vimeo. Try not watching in HD, or look at some of the GH1 footage on YouTube.

So Ben, are you saying that you are not seeing skipping?
If so, then I'm really releaved, as I thought this was an inherent flaw with the camera's processor or the AVCHD codec.

Allow the video to fully download, then play it.

I have a decent workstation in my office with a 9600-level video card with lots of memory. Full screen video on YouTube and Vimeo looks fine. OTOH...
When I'm viewing from this HP laptop with its cheezy video card, the only way I can view video is to view it in thumbnail mode and not full screen mode. Viewing in full-screen results in dropped frames.
It might be your video card.

Well, it has not much to do with your video card. It's pretty much all about the CPU.
Vimeo converts to 24 or 25 fps and I think converting from 29.97 makes it less smooth.
