I DP'd this project for ABC a couple weeks ago. It was extra content for the show "FlashForward". I shot it with the EX1, Redrock M2e and Canon FD primes. We had a small lighting kit of 3 kinos, a plywood/PVC dolly and barely any crew. I pretty much lit and shot everything myself, pushed the dolly, pulled my own focus, the whole bit..

Go to http://www.jointhemosaic.com and click on "mosaic stories" to see the stuff I shot. These are short segments of people telling their "flash forward" experiences. 3 out of the 9 stories we shot are up so far. More to come shortly I am told.

For a good trailer of the show including some nice BTS, go to http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/flash-forward

I'm pretty sure they are shooting the show on RED. They were shooting the extra content on HVX200s until I came along and showed them a better option :-)

I watched the "Jorge" piece. VERY nice looking indeed. Smooth movements, very professional looking. What was the dolly you were using? You mentioned PVC pipe - and I'm assuming the plywood was for shimming or foundation, or are you saying the plywood itself was the dolly platform? Any pictures of the BTS rig you were using?

thanks all.

newtmitch, the dolly is simply a plywood deck with skateboard wheels. home depot special. i made it a couple of years ago and rarely use it anymore but in this case i wanted a dolly and we couldn't afford to rent one or even carry the track if it was donated. the pvc sections are only 4 feet and connect together so it's easy to throw them in my trunk.

i was kinda laughing the whole time about how homespun and diy this shoot was for abc!!! but in the end, if we had a large crew and all the proper gear, we would have never made our days. having very few lights and a dolly made of plastic and plywood has a definite speed advantage... we flew between setups. the entire jorge piece was shot in about 3 hours total including unload/setup. then we shot 5 more stories that day in the same park where the pool is located....

just checked them out. looks killer!!!! the bokeh of the g35 is probably the best i've seen from any adapter. way more film like than the redrock, blade, letus, etc. . for me and the projects i shoot mostly, light effenciency is most important. in a perfect world i would have both systems. on outdoor shoots the g35 is the best tool for the job hands down...
