When I bring in mts file into Vegas using Match Media Settings how come I get the file resolution right but it's showing 29.97 frame rate, not 24 fps?

Because 60i = 29.97fps.

24 frames per sec, progressive (not interlaced) or 23.976 f/s for the techies to be precise.
I haven't used Vegas, but to get the 24p with Final Cut one needs to use a transcoder (such as Neoscene or Voltaic) to get 24p out of the 1080/60i file.

So Dojoman, it seems that Vegas doesn't remove the pulldown on import.

Is there any NLE that removes pulldown by itself? No that I know, at least Premiere and Vegas donīt. Vegas removes pulldown for DV 24p video because it has flags that tells it with frames to use, with HDV 24p video it doesnt work, I use NeoScene.
