I am editing a short film that was mainly shot in 1080 24pA.

But my cinematographer shot a couple of scenes in 1080 24p, and now when I look at the footage in FCP (which is of a moving car) everything is interlaced and funny.

I already logged the footage and I no longer have the original P2 files.

How do I remove the extra frames?

Anyone?

op is like a puzzle, could you rephrase the question?

if by the extra frames you mean the entire scene, that would be a really stupid question.

if you want to try to remove the interlacing, what nle are you using and can we see a screen-grab of the interlacing footage

That's not what he's asking; the question is straightforward, and you really could stand to think twice before you post some of this snarky stuff.

Daniel, you'll want to use Cinema Tools to remove the 2:3 pulldown (which is 24p standard). It's NOT deinterlacing, keep in mind, but pulldown removal. Check the documentation for Cinema Tools for the proper procedure.

since it was not an interlacing problem like he mentioned, it's not far to assume he might be not describing the problem properly.(that's the same assumption you made yourself)

since he knew that there was a difference between both formats, i did not thing he will just drop it in the same timeline. so i wanted to check before making any assumption of my own and answering the wrong question.

if you want to export the footage to use cinema tools to use the footage you can create a new sequence the same as your file, go to cinema tools, go back to fcp.

you could also deal with the footage inside fcp.

like for example set the pull-down options, make the sequence same as the car scene format and drop the other footage in it.

or you can duplicate the file using media management to remove the pull-down.(never tried this to remove the pull down, so don't know what fcp is going to do exactly, but it's an option.)
