I had a very similar log & transfer issue to the recent post by user "TheGultarzan". I felt it would be useful to share my story with all and more importantly useful to myself to hear some feedback.

I launched my card into the Log & Transfer window this morning and noticed that the clip icons were completely different then the actual clips when playing them down.

I ejected the card, and then connected the card again. FCP error message came up:

"Contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure.
Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media."

As far as I understand the directory structure was correct.

I then tried to transfer the media from the card to my hard drive and another error message came up (do not recall the text), stopping the transfer.

I put the card back into the HMC150 to check and verify that the clips are OK. When in playback mode, the camera detected the files but instead of an image for the clip thumbnail, there was a blue box with a blue exclamation mark. I then tried to play one of the clips; the camera had an error message, and then went into a repair mode.

After the in camera repair stated it was finished, I was still unable to play down the clips within the camera.

Connecting the card to the computer (using a different card reader) I noticed that approx 70% of the media was "gone". I can notice that the files are still there, but the size of them were labeled as zero and cannot be viewed. I believe the in camera "repair" deleted majority of my media! BIG MISTAKE!

The other 30% of media Toast (ver 9.0.4) was able to be transcoded. Although, the audio is out of sync & the clips are not at the appropriate in and out points, essentially making then at this point useless.

What I have learned:

* Do not use a cheap card reader (I believe this is where my issue started)
* In my situation the HMC150 in camera clip repair did nothing for me, it actually hurt me (unless I am overlooking something)

I have read from the simular post that there is a mtsmerger that could help restore the files on the card? Does anyone know exaclty what this is, where to get it, and how it could be used in my situation? I am not very hopefully of regaining my lost media, but any hope at this point is hope nonetheless.

Thank you!

I can't help you but I can tell you I've had tons of problems with my camera. I eventually sent it back to NJ for them to evaluate and they've determined that it's a bad board. Whatever that means. So they are going to repair the camera. Which doesn't instill confidence. I've lots lots of footage and several interviews and a complete wedding due to various malfunctions.

I know some people love their camera and have had NO problems. But it seems like a lot of people are having various problems: mostly problems with lost data and such. I feel like Panasonic put out a product with low quality control. Perhaps they rushed the beta process. But it doesn't seem nearly as reliable as P2. And for a professional, reliability is the most important thing when it comes to your equipment.
