View Full Version : Guide for different aspect ratio
Is there something built-in or ways to indicate different aspect ratio on the LCD screen of the EX1? I was looking for something similar to the Title and Action guide that shows on some video editing software. By default the EX1 is in 16:9 and if I want 2.39:1, what are some of the best ways to go about getting it with minimal lost in quality with EX1?

Are you looking for frame guides or an anamorphic solution?

What about frame guides?
I wonder why the EX1 doesn't include 2.39:1 aspect ratio frame guides...

Just frame guide.

I'm not sure how this is relating to my request for frame based guide on the EX1 LCD screen. I assuming there are guides in the the NLE software for editing in different aspect ratio. I may have to look at the tutorial.

It looks like spam.
Thanks, newtmitch. I thought so because for a second there, it didn't make sense at all.

I think Lor wants something to show on the LCD so one can shoot with that in mind. I would love a 4:3 guide so I can shoot with accuracy on set, then simply drop it into a 4:3 sequence, and enlarge the file to cut off the ends.
One work around would be to tape it out on your LCD, but that's not exact.

Yes, that's exactly what I want. A guide that shows the 2.39:1 aspect ratio on the LCD screen of the EX1. Yes, I have thought of using tape but it's inaccurate and looks ridiculous.

You could do it by shooting a scene, leaving the camera set up, capture a clip of the scene and enlarge it to 4:3 in your NLE, then eyeball the cut off point on your camera lcd. You could use a thin strip of tape so you can still see the ends, only with a little line through to mark your limits.
That would get you close.
Okay, here's another thing I was wondering. If I purchased one of those portable external monitor, does any of them come with guide for 2.39 or 1.85?
