A little History: "The 80's were a great time to be a kid, and a fan of horror. Rode my bike up to the local video store to see what had come out on the vhs every week. Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Strt, Halloween, Swamp Thing, Living Dead... Chopping Mall (you know you liked it) just to name a few. They were original, scary, fun, every kill or drop of blood was something you could watch again and again.
Hence the reason these days for all the remakes, re-tellings, it's what's comfortable. I don't want to be the old man screaming "back in my day" but... those monsters were the best. Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt.. Scooby Doo had a new monster each week.
So I have set out to become a filmaker. Tell a good story, make a good film, somethjing you will want to watch over and over again. The script is written, the production has begun, filming will take place in a few weeks.
Thanks to my friend Brian for telling me about this fest, I am looking forward to competing and seeing the monsters that each and every one of you create.

The 80's were indeed a great time for the horror genre. :)
I've always loved a good z-flick. And even though Romero's latest haven't been anything to write home about, his earlier work is still worth the reference.
I'm looking forward to hearing more. :)

HAHA! that would be awesome!
its a shame, alot of the cult classic horror from the 80s are not out on dvd, or if they were they are long gone and cost $200 on ebay :(

Remember CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS. A classic. But I think I'm straying into the 70s on that one.

In Europe they're currently re-releasing all of the classics (mainly the stuff that came out during the 70's and 80's), including 'Saturday the 14th'. It's pure gold.

I am very much in love with 'Drag Me to Hell'. I had tickets to a pre-screening here in Denmark, and Sam Raimi literally kicked my ass with this movie. It's a hell of a lot of fun!
