08/05: Uploaded poster. Looks like I'm back in so you guys will have to deal with the unmitigated awesomeness that is my film. (insert sarcasm here) Had this story in the back of my head for a while now and this seems like a good opportunity to tell it, it being Monster Fest and all. I'm currently working on the first draft. Have some different ideas about how the story could go so I'm trying to decide on which route to take. Not sure if I should reveal the monster in the posts although I'm sure it might be obvious to some.

08/09: Had a meeting with a somewhat new friend this evening. She's interested in the filmmaking process as well as acting so we talked about Lilly's Kiss and about her helping on the project to develop more of a sense of the aspects of filmmaking that she'd like to focus on. Always nice to have another warm body on set.

08/16: Still trying to work some story logistics out. The two endings that I have in mind will drastically alter the tone of the entire film so I just really need to decide which way I want it to go. I'm ready to have the first draft done. Don't want to be rushing at the last minute again.

10/23: Hey guys, bad news. I'm not going to be done with Lilly's Kiss in time for the deadline. After writing the script and storyboarding it, I made some changes and then I started to really get an inkling for it to be animated. The animation bug has been biting me a lot recently (as you can see from my last couple of shorts) and I decided that I really want to animate this one. The problem is that it takes a long time and combine that with the real world really being crazy these past few months, I'm going to miss the deadline. I didn't want to rush it and turn in something weak. I'm still going to finish the film and I really hope that when I post it, everybody will check it out and let me know what they think as I find the feedback around here invaluable. I'm a little disappointed but proud of myself because I did manage to finish a straight year's worth of DVXuser entries. Thanks to you guys, I've made more films in the past year or so than I probably would've.

I'm still going to participate in Monster Fest as a viewer and still give feedback to anyone who wants to read it. Still really looking forward to everybody's films. Thanks for checking out my thread guys and the interest in my project. Can't wait to see what everybody came up with for theirs. Hope to be with you in the next fest. Later!

Yeah, MAH. It's live action. I just wanted to go ahead and get a poster and stuff uploaded....try to have an actual thread this time around. Glad to be in the fest though. Have to try and redeem myself after last time.

Are we expecting 3D art to thrill us and tease us? You're definitely developing your own style and I'm expecting to see massive cohesion this time around. No pressure of course.

Well, I swore that my next film was going to be a quiet character-driven FX free piece but then they went all Monster Fest on us so the animator in me got a little excited. The stuff I've done before, I was experimenting with but I'm not trying to use FX as a crutch. I'm still seeing where the story takes me but I want to backseat the digital stuff this time around. I just used 3D for illustrative purposes on the teaser poster but it isn't an animated film...I think. It is Monster Fest though...

OK...so just a little animation...just enough to take the edge off, y'know? I can quit anytime I want to...really...

That's assuming he WANTS to quit...

Your like the Devil Rodders!!! You like to see people struggling with their sin, and yes animation is sin!!!

But sin IS good.... so, so good...

Brian Parker

Hey, animation is NOT a sin...it can be used for good or evil. Just look at the works of Hayao Miyazaki, the movie Akira, or classic Disney. On the other hand, within the grasp of someone such as the dark wizard Michael Bay, animation can become a tool of unmitigated wanton destruction.

As much as I love animation on a deep genetic level, I don't want to have to use it in every film...but let's be honest...this fest kind of calls for it, right?

Sorry to hear that Brian. Always thought your poster was intriguing!
I'm struggling a bit with the deadline too.

Please let me know when your film is finished as I do want to check it out and happy to give you some feedback if you want.

All the best!

Hope you get your project finished in time. Ouija boards freak me out.

I wondering what was goin' on. I think you made the right decision though. I think as filmmakers we sometimes want to just rush, rush, rush just to get something finished and then become disappointed in the outcome and wish we would have been more patient (that's happened to me a couple times). So, take your time and do right and I'll be there to give you feedback as well. Animation is way cool, so can't wait to check it out.

Thanks Marlon. Yeah, I rushed for Quest Fest and that didn't turn out too well. Yeah, animation is a lot of work but I love it.

Can't wait to see your film though. I'm feelin the poster/promotionals and the screen grabs. Good luck with it man!
