This saturday I am filming a charity for blind people. Where blind people will be competing in mini golf...

I think the current term is differently sighted.

And I think now the game is supposed to be called alternately-scaled golf.

Wow that is interesting. Hope all of the participants get a copy of the video so they can see how funny... oh... wait...

If there was a 704x480 Brailler, you could maybe output a luminance-only signal through the device and people could 'feel' the image with their hands...

Can you please post a highlight?

I think the current term is differently sighted.

Is this true?

I was having a conversation about this with a friend the other day (not blind people, but this whole PC renaming dealio). Are they actually fighting for the word blind to be replaced?

I've heard terms like non-sighted used with a straight face. Differently sighted is a joke, but with all the PC idiocy floating around out there I wouldn't be surprised to see it gain currency.

I used to be really annoyed by Political Correctness. Now it's been so blown out of proportion that I absolutely hate it.

Well I once fell into a urinal while shooting Bob Dole at a urology convention.
weird?
I dunno.
Prolly not as weird as the Benny Hinn stuff I use to make. Benny Hinn.. Benny Hill... very little difference.

Sometimes I'm astonished by the stuff you admit to having done.

I think the currently correct term is "visually impaired".

Of course, "Lighthouse for the Blind" hasn't completely changed their name...they just added ". . .and the Visually Impaired", so apparently it's not only 'correct', it's inaccurate.

Heh. Thats a weird gig alright. I've got nothing on that. :D

Stylize it like an actual PGA telecast! That would work.

Why has no one asked this yet: Why were you filming Bob Dole in the bathroom?

I was shooting him at the Dallas convention center. Ever been there? Dude the bathrooms are made to kill. I popped in there between shots and the one-inch tile cleverly camos a step going up to the urinals so over and over dudes trip and well, thats where they go. I assume it's why the urinals are 5 feet tall and go to the floor... to catch you. Other than putting in a camera and making a hit tv show, I don't know why they'd do this but it is still that way today.
Weirdest gig I have shot was a quick interview with George Bush Jr. in his office when he was gov of texas. I just needed a quick sound bite and even fed him the line. Still, I was there for hours as he tried and tried to sound human. Mayor of Southpark style. I'm good at hiding my emotions on a shoot, as we all are but about the 12th time he asked if I was ready after flubbing a line as if it my fault, I sat down behind the camera and just sighed.

Must have been an interesting feeling watching the presidential election returns and remembering that episode...
