I DP'd this video a little over a month ago. It just came out of post. Pretty slick edit and further evidence that the EX1/3 are great for greenscreen.

Shot on EX1. All locked off shots. All greenscreen (including the car). All of the movement was done in AE. For some of the full-shot singles we turned the camera sideways to squeeze more rez out of it.

Thanks for sharing as usual.

All of that AE work makes me cringe. That program is so capable but I find it so labor intensive to edit on. The need to preview and render every little thing just make it tedious.

Whatever computer system I build seems to be too slow as well.

Oh well, maybe when I move to Wndows 7 64bit I can finally stuff enough ram in the thing to do some damage.

Maybe try a mac. The guy who cut this is still working on an old G5 and he's getting it done.

You can get a decent 8 cor w 4 gigs of ram now from Apple for around 3,500.00

Damn dude. That is a hot video! So you're saying you didn't move the camera at all? I am amazed at the camera, and whoever did the post.

I wonder if I could get anything close to this in Motion?

Now that they finally included DOF simulation, you might... but I still think it would be harder to do than in AE.

Did anybody notice what a great piece of work that was? Fantastic editing and very clean camera work and lighting. Thanks for posting it.

Yes I watched it a few times and love it. I like the music too. Very unique!

It's got a beat and you can dance to it.

Getting it done is not the issue, it is how the program is setup.

Scrubbing the timeline to see what has been changed takes everything out of context with regards to the music.

I have a lot of respect for those that really make this program hum.

I guess I am too spoiled with Edius as most everything is realtime.

thanks everybody. i wish i could claim that editing but my skills aren't quite at that point yet.

yes, all shots were locked off. every camera move was done in AE.

bassman, i also can't stand the need to render in AE even when no effects are applied. cutting a music vid from scratch in AE is a pain, if not impossible. for a greenscreen video like this, i will plan my AE work in advance, cut the video in FCP with AE in mind, then export an XML file from FCP that i then import into AE. By then everything is where it needs to be and I don't need to worry about sync and feeling the song. All decisions have been made and i'm just in AE to execute them. makes like much easier this way.

That is good approach.

You are hooked up with a good group. Talented folks and interesting work to shoot.

Wow! Great job! Very jelalous of the guys talents who did the editing. I'm very proficient with AfterEffects, but I would never have visulized the cool shots/effects in my mind, let alone pull them off. Awesome!

the videocopilot earth zoom thing was used in a relevant way, I like that, alot of the times I see people replicating his effect just for the purpose of replicating but here it's used in a very nice artistic way.
