DVCPro vs Quicktime (Data Rate)

Hi all,

Im shooting with an HPX170, and I am capturing my footage to a firestore. Will I get varying quality if I am capturing in Quicktime format, versus the DVCPro codec? I'm wondering since they have varying data rates?

Any insight would be appreciated.

I believe DVC_PRO_HD is about 100-Mbps. It used to be called DVC PRO 100 - Quicktime is just a wrapper for the codec, Just like AVI, if you would be more specific as to what encoder is being used on the Quicktime side, I doubt its anything else besides DVC PRO HD fed via firewire from the cam. Not sure if fire-store can transcode on the fly into something else.
