Looking for some help with lenses. I just rented two lenses - 1 crystal vision 0.5x ultra wide and 1 digital optics 2.0x telephoto lens. Just getting familar with them but with the wide angle lens - when it's fully zoomed you can see black borders in each corner, with the telephoto the image is contained in just a cirlce, only when you zoom in enough does the image fill up the whole frame. Is this vignetting?
Also if you have any recommendations for other lenses that I should experiment with, please let me know. Thanks

It is vignetting. *It is normal to have a little on a tele lens when you are zoomed all the way out, I believe. *I know that the Digital Optics lens is a piece of crap and doesn't work properly with the DVX (I had one and returned it) *I can't believe anybody has the stones to rent those.
I'm not familiar with the wide angle you mentioned, but I don't think it should do that. Also, I am curious why you would mount a wide angle lens and then zoom in.
A professional lens like the Century VS07CVDVX wide angle lens will not vignette when zoomed all the way out. However it is normal for a tele lens to vignette when zoomed out. It is designed mainly to magnify a smaller portion of the frame. I dunno about the quality of those lenses tho. You can have the best gears turning behind the lens, but if the lens is bad, crap in - crap out.

those two lenses are garbage... but can be used for some "creative" filmaking.
but i am confused, on a wide angle you shouldnt vignette when zoomed in... that should be backwards.
