I did a spec for a guy today (quick and dirty), still on the table. Nothing too serious . I'd prefer that 50's horror style. Wouldn't mind getting a couple shots in for the fest anyways.
If something similar to this is of interest to anyone, gimme a shout.

:)

I think he is offering his services as a stills photographer?

If not, I have no clue what he is going on about.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind doing a model or something for this fest. I'm not big on animating characters so someone else might be required for that. But monster modeling I could to take a crack at. Reference photos are always nice.

Btw, I got into waaaaaaay too many beer the other day when I posted this, so I was babbling a bit incoherantly.
That picture was a slap together model I did that morning. :)

In lieu of my lack of animating skills I have around 3,000 motion captures that I can target/blend to a model to give it a blend of particular animations, so depends on the shots.

I'm particularly interested in organic modeling so throw at it me man. Got room for 1 or 2 more.

Thanks for the interest. Hope to see you in the fest.

Hey Raptor, make your way down to LA and I'll put you to work as an actor... :D

Wow, nice mud monster there Raptor (I hope you don't mind me calling it a mud monster, as it just seems to be what that creature is made of).

I may need some FX assistance for the fest. I'm still deciding between two ideas, but am leaning heavily towards the one that is sorta 50's style horror, well not really, it's pre-WWII sci-fi/horror (late 30's). Still though, it's in that same camp of retro-style genre cinema from that basic era.

I'll let you know what's cooking when I figure out the menu.

Nekonik: Sounds cool. When I say 50's, I mean WW2 up until you know when, maybe early 60's.
Having grown up on those movies I find it kind of cool and the look has always impacted me.

If I may, also pre WW2 I enjoy, although somewhat lesser. The video from that era has a harsher look, more contrasty, abrasive in general. Frankenstein, the film, was '31 and it was harsh as hell video and audio. But by the same token 'The Public Enemy' (Cagney) was done in '31' and was really good in comparison. Sure the skys were washed out but it lent a 'feel' to the film. Actually it's kind of hard to reproduce now, haha.

Also what I liked about that film was how the acting and makeup was tranforming from silent movies to current day. Cagney stood out like a current day star. The others acting and makeup, eh, a bit of Cagney's eye's too, stood out as from the silent era. It is interesting though.

And as a bonus, working 3D in B&W is so much easier. It's simple. But yeah, I love that era.
Ufo's, Monsters, and, ofcourse, Spitfires. It's not a real movie until you have that combo, in B&W, er, colored B&W. Oh man, I maybe need to start a blog.

//Sorry I missed a couple posts.

Tom, thanks. If I had any acting days, and if you'd call a musician acting, it is in a way, it's over, lol. But I appreciate it. But if I was younger, yeah, I might be down for a try if I knew what I was doing. I think I can play a pycho pretty naturally though, if that part ever comes up, lol.

Sprocketboy, no that wasn't an influence. Actually, that model was a quick hash job but basically I was along the lines of the 50-60's monster style like 'The Creature from the Black Lagoon'. 'The Fly' was also good.
Frankenstein has crossed my mind in the past couple days as maybe something to do.

There was a feeling I got growing up with those movies that, unless you did too, you wouldn't understand.
It had an impact on us at that age group at that time and some of us miss it. A lot of it was ground breaking.
Well, actually, all of it was, lol.

Ufo's, Monsters, and Spitfires... that pretty much sums up a big portion of the spectacle I have planned for my film. Well, Ufo's, Aliens, B-17 Flying Fortresses, and P-40 Warhawks...

... all in B&W too.
