ok my EX1 is still very new to me and I have not yet run into this situation but I will be later today. I am an ex HVX owner and im very familiar with how P2 works as far as splitting the clips when you run from card to card. my question is does the SxS format work the same way? Im really only shooting the footage to hand off to an editor and he's not real familiar with the SxS stuff yet either. my concern about this is mainly because I have an 8gb and 32gb card and my plan was to fill the 8gb first hurray over to the laptop and start dumping it and continue with the 32 and when that was full dump that and continue again with the 8. by this time i should be all set as far as dumping goes (this is a live music performance). Is this going to be a good way of going about this? any suggestions?
Hey
I'm sure there are other methods of doing this but this is how I do it;
a - insert SxS card and run XDCAM Transfer program
b - for some stupid reason XDCAM won't let you import a clip that is 'partial' unless you set the in/out point on the timeline. So in this case since it's the first card, you should just click your mouse at the end of the timeline and click 'o' (for outpoint). If this was the second card, you need to just set in 'in point' by pressing 'i'
c - the 'import' button should be highlighted so you can now click it!
PS -- don't forget to set your scratch disks first under preferences.
PPS -- Always triple check you got all the clips before deleting. So for example, in XDCAM transfer, u can see how many clips there are (ie. 27 clips), then after importing take a look at the folder to make sure that indeed there are 27 clips! And the third way of checking is to just check the size of the card and compare it against the folder you imported to. Should be SIMILAR, not identical. So for example, the card might read 6.75GB....your folder should read 6.73GB or something like that
