Hi!
I just got myself a HPX171 and I'm really happy with it. I have a few small questions though:
1. When I connect the HPX171 to a computer with an usb cable, the computer seems to detect only one of the two cards I have inside the camera. What would be the correct way to copy both of the cards to the computer via usb connection?
2. Is it possible to simultaneously use mains supply to power the camera and charge the battery? Or must I choose between the two?
3. Is it safe to remove p2 cards while the camera is powered and connected to a computer if the light indicator of the card slot is not flashing? Or should I always shut down the camera while removing a card?

Or should I always shut down the camera while removing a card?i wouldnt advise it. i dont even know if its possible. as far as ive always known (when transferring cards to a computer) you have to power down the camera and remount it each time you replace a card.
one thing you should NEVER do is connect/disconnect a usb/firewire cable while the camera is powered on

Thanks for your reply!
are the cards both the same storage capacity?
Yes, both are 32 gb Panasonic E-series P2 cards. It's a bit puzzling since now I noticed that my computer doesn't recognize a card at all when it's inserted in the upper p2 slot in my camera (slot 1). Windows will show a new drive on my computer but I can't acces it, when I try to open the drive Vista tells me to "insert disk". When a card is in the lower slot in my camera everything seems to work and the drive is accessible. Is my camera functioning correctly? How do you guys handle USB transfers if you have shot on two cards?

Thanks for the advice. Removing a card while recording is still possible right (so I can film continuoysly)?

Yes you can freely pop out and change cards when attached to the computer, as long as the card isn't currently being accessed.
Might not be such a good idea on the Mac to just pull the cards, you should "eject" the card image first before swapping cards on a Mac.
