I have been reading posts about 35mm adaptors, I don't really understand what they are and how they mimick 35, can somone explain or point me to a resource? Thanks!

This site explains it fairly well:

Now my question is which 35mm adapter should I buy? I looked a at Shaw's one, the redrock's one and the micro35 but I really don't know what are the difference? Why to pay 800$ for an adapter when the redrock's one cost around 45$?

Thanks Jason, this site does offer a great explaination, and that rig he divised is impressive, not too practicle, but the ingenuity of some people never ceases to amaze me!
The differences:
Mine is entirely experimental :D. It's more of an ongoing personal project. Redrocks micro35 is cheap and seems to work well. For those prices I don't think you can go wrong with his plans.

Keep in mind $45 is for the plans, not the adapter. (Still a good price!)
You have to buy the parts and build it.

How much for the adapter? Just to have an idea!

Depends on what you buy. Completed or plans or parts.

hey Shaw, can your soon-to-be anamorphic back lens fit on this?
i hope so! my fantasy rig is evolving nicely.
fomo,
I have been talking with Dan about integrating the anamorphic into his system. Things seem to be going fairly well. It's just a matter of customizing the design to work well for his adapter. But, yes, it will be available!
One thing to note is that Dan's rig will cost quite a bit more than redrocks.

wow, Dan's adapter is tiny
does he have plans on how to build it?
I think he plans on just manufacturing and selling them. No plans. :)
