While I was on the vans warped tour with my clothing company i brought along the HMC150 to shoot some promo stuff for myself.

I met up with our friend Lights and I ended up filming her set in phoenix.
It was 117 degrees that day and everyone was deadly sunburnt which lead me to believing this video was going to not come out so great. I was so hot i essentially dont even remember shooting it.

shot on ONE HMC150 at 720/24p Cine D preset and color corrected.
Let me know what you think.

keep in mind i pushed this out really quick as a promo for her in anticipation of her new album.

check out more of her at the links that spamup in the video if you like her music.

Again, this video was shot at the last minute with no prep.

The audio is very low and distorted at some points. If you had any for warning on the shoot you should always have an XLR or 2 to plug in to the board. I had to learn the hard way at a couple concerts that even my Rode NTG-1 Mic wouldn't be enough.

You monitor your audio? Did you use the onboard mic?

yeah i had no advanced warning, and i was using an external sony xlr mic. Had it damn near all the way down but i was so close to the speaker system there was no way to avoid the gargle.

I thought about overlaying it with the actual track, but then that takes away from the aesthetics of it being live footage.

Normally i patch into the board but live nation concert events tend to be strict. Even if the artist management and label is cool with having you film, it is almost always a battle. As it stood I had to pull a few strings with security to even get the HMC down there even though Lights and her management company are the ones who were cool with the idea.

I see, yeah live is hard - you only get 1 shot.

I just recorded a concert on Friday... I was XLR'ed in and then at the mercy of the audio tech... There were a few times where some instruments/mics were low or off and then later they would peg and I could hear the board doing a bad job of trying to attenuate. Sucks because the client might think it was on my end :nads:.

was that XLR mono out?
Normally you cant get the mix everyones hearing unless your stereo jacked out into pro tools on a laptop.
