Yes, I'm impatient...i've been waiting like many of you to get my hands on the promising micro35 we've all been following here....but I can't wait anymore!

I decided to go ahead and make my own little rig following the instructions found at:

http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dof/index.htm

I got all the ingredients...but I'm puzzled now. What dictates the size of the optical components. It seems that in the plans the author is using a Sony TRV-900. It looks as if the camera lens makes a perfect matxh with the close up macro lens.

What happens if you end up using a DVX100a rather than a TRV-900. Do you need to get a bigger sized closeup macro lens and a larger 35mm lens that matches the filter ring size of the DVX100?

Things that make you go hmmmm......

I'll just wait and buy myself one when available.....off to get the pre-ordered manual I go....wheeeeee!

Looks like SOMEONE can stop you from making your own micro35, YOU! Hehe ;D I'm waiting for the micro35 as well (although first I'm waiting for a job so I can buy a DVX)

Yeah, I stopped working on mine, too, after reading about Redrocks' stuff. Unfortunately, everyone else has read about the Micro35 and refuses to buy my optics! :P

As for Super8's original question: you need two +10 macros on a DVX for most DIY designs. I had a stack of +10, +1, +2 and +4 that kind of worked, but the that's a lot of glass to be shooting through.

Hey Fox:

Thanks for the info. Does yours work like Redrock's device? Are you mass producing them?

I wonder when Redrock get his device finally out if he is going to be overwhelmed by the orders....we might not see product until 2007!

Making a 35mm adapter isn't an easy thing to do :). It takes lots of experimentation to get things right and even more to optimize a design. That's the benefit of Redrocks plans. It's certainly an interesting topic if you like experimenting but if you're just looking to have a functional adapter which produces nice images it's best to buy one.

Jason, I'm still interested in your optics tube and retaining rings. I've just been very busy lately!

Shaw - excellent.

Super8 - no way am I producing these suckers. Mine is similar to the one on enormousapparatus.com, but with a tube holding the GG instead of a bunch of filter rings.
