All the footage was shot with HMC 150. Straight. No DoF or any other attachments. Using available lighting only.

Also, none of the images have been modified in post (except two shots which were modified to time lapse). The image you see is the image I got out of the camera. All footage was edited in FCP 6.0.5.

So I figure, this is a good test of what the camera can do with just tweaking the scene files. All shot between Jan '09 and (yesterday) July '09.

Anyway... I'd REALLY appreciate opinions on this as I'd like to use this for my camera op demo reel.

Thanks.

Looks great! I want one of these but just holding off a little longer until I can get the HD workflow together. I love that last shot...nice!

Thanks! I came from Canon XL1s world to this and I gotta say, the workflow is SOOOO much easier now.

And that's one of the advantages of having an artistically-minded girlfriend... I can go, "Hey honey, you just got home from a long day of work, now you can walk in the rain in front of my camera. Doesn't that sound fun?"

And she'll go, "Okay. What do you want me to do?" :cheesy:

David, You have some really nice imagery there but it seems to be a little disjointed and uneven when it cuts to from the New Orleans dark and moody stuff to the bright high contrast shot of the guy and then the interview stuff and all of that. It almost seems like theres two demo reels here and its not evenly balanced. I'd say to weave it togheter so it's more variety in the beginning and or have two different demo reels.

I'd also say that this seems more like a series of selects than a demo reel... as you'd want to have more variety and showcase a lot more shots and different elements than what you have. When you come back to the same subject in one piece it just doesn't seem to be varied enough to really call it more than just a series of shots.

I'm not sure I entirely understand what you're saying here. In our opinion, I should mix it up between dark and light shots or put them in a better sequential order?

Well, to be honest, I don't have a lot of shots with this camera to vary it up too much. I didn't want to include any of my SD footage from my previous camera as it just seems too jarring.

David.. yes.. it just seems like you set up a nice mood with the first style and then bang you cut to the high key stuff and it's just so different and didn't really lead into it, and also not nearly as cinematic and or dramatic. It just didn't flow well into that piece.

I understand about that as it takes a while to get content together for a piece. you might be better off showing whole complete pieces until you get enough footage to have a vibrant collection.

I don't know if mixing it up would really be the answer either, but possibly I'd say to have a few different collections. Do one of interviews and high key stuff, and then maybe one of the more cinematic and dyamic stuff, and keep then more as shorter pieces. It's also just my .02.

cheers and keep on shooting.. the more you shoot, the more you'll be able to put in the money stuff.

I also will show you what I have accumulated in August.. i'm not saying it will be the cats meow, but it will be varied as I've got 2200 hours of HVX stuff to go through and about 500 hours of HMC footage and that might be something cool... although daunting.

Cheers and keep on working on it and getting it out there, you are head of me...

Ah, gotcha. I recut it and I'm uploading the recut right now. I think it flows a little better.

I was trying to show variety of stuff I can do. Low light vs. well lit. Handheld vs sticks/dolly. Dramatic vs ABC type stuff.

So hopefully this will get me more work so come Dec (when I've had the camera for a year), I'll have a big range of stuff I can put into a recut demo.

I look forward to seeing your stuff. I'm trying to look at as much inspiration as I can so I can learn from others. This forum is, as always, one of my greatest resources.
