I'm going to be using step-up adapters to take all my lenses to 82mm and then use 82mm filters. The Circular Polarizer filter I've chosen is the Hoya Super HMC, but it doesn't have front threads. This creates a problem because I then cannot use a screw-in hood that is flower/petal-shaped, which is supposed to be better.
The best solution I've found so far is this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=370216774793) rubber collapsable hood that has threads to accept a filter after you put the hood on. I don't like the idea of a rubber hood because I can just imagine it eventually warping and losing it's uniform roundness. I know they're cheap and I could just buy another if that happens, but I'd like to do it right the first time.
I've been unable to find a flower/petal-shape hood or even a metal hood with threads to accept a filter. Does anyone know of either of these with threads to accept a filter, preferably a flower/petal-shaped?
Or does anyone have another solution that could work without going matte box or soft hood?
I think what would be great is something that can clamp on so I don't have to screw the hood on and it won't get in the way of adjusting the polarizer.
