This is my first time putting a video together with the HMC150. It was a quick video that I put together for my church to show a recap of some summer kids clubs that we were having.

I really like the camera. I still hate the lcd screen and I think I will be getting a hood for that. Hopefully that will help with some focussing issues. This was also my first time using my Steadicam Merlin. I really enjoy working with it...it does take some practice and I am definitely still learning it, but it really adds a new dimension to the videos and I am looking forward to learning how to really use it well.

Really nice job Andy, it was well composed. And I would not have known that this was your first time with a Merlin.

Thanks. I did practice for about 15 minutes a day in my basement for about a week :)

Wonderful job, Andy :). I'm filming a kids church camp next month and this is a big inspiration for me. All of the footage looks fantastic - are you using a custom scene file?

Great job again :)

Thanks Tiger. This was just using Scene File 3 -standard setup. Some of the stuff was shot around 7-8pm which really makes for some great light in the summer.

It seemd to hadel the 60p pretty well. Did you edit native or transcode first. I am a Vegas user..and I must transcode to AVI before I can use my 60p footage.

I used the Log and Transfer tool in FCP to go to ProRes. I do have to say this...I had still been using FCP 5.1.4 and was using Toast 10 to transcode but I got a copy of FCP 6 to use and it is much much faster using the Log and Transfer method from what I could see. As a side note, FCP 6 really sped up the editing process as well...things play smoother and dont need to render as much...I am sure that this is not news to most, but I never upgraded to 6 and have been waiting for Studio 3 to come out before I did, but I may just bite the bullet and upgrade now and then upgrade again when Studio 3 comes out (which hopefully will handle things even better...perhaps even native AVCHD editing.

Toast does offer the ability to transcode the footage into many different formats though whereas the Log and Transfer doesn't seem to offer options...am I missing something there? (perhaps this should be posted in another place?)
