Very cool Solomon. I enjoyed your short film! Congrats.
What did you shoot in 1080/24 or 720P?
.

Everything shot in 1080p/24. The "chase" scene got pretty muddy, so maybe I should have used 720p for that...

Did you use a Classic Soft or Promist filter on this or something, I noticed the highlights bloom a bit?

I think if you're talking about the night exterior stuff it might be the 0.95 50mm he's using.

It's in the beginning too, :41 blooming on the face and shirt, :48 on hands and leaves on the left side, and yeah the night scene 4:46. It could be the lens, might have lost some coating and be a little foggy like what they did in Saving Private Ryan.

really well done!
i downloaded the short, but it was heavily compressed, why did you compress it so much?
Solomon Chase

It's compressed to 50mb, which is the size limit for questfest. It's not THAT bad. I'll be uploading an HD version to vimeo after questfest is over.
The blooming is a post effect, but like kholi said, some of the night shots are blooming because of the f0.95 lens.

Solomon,
What did you use to extract the 24 from the 1080i wrapper?

real nice dude. color grading went well with the content.
i think the 1080 held up pretty good for how much the camera was whippin around
during that case scene. not perfect, but better than I would have expected, and much
better than 1/2 of the randon pan footage we were seein a few weeks ago.
good luck with it

Excellent. Both execution and story. Very enjoyable.

That was really nicely crafted piece. I don't think anyone would have thought that this kind of cinematic quality would be possible from a 1500 dollar still camera. Kudos and much nice work...

What shots were done with the "Weinberger 8mm F1.8", and what is that lens, fisheye, and where did you get it? I tried to look it up in google but got no info.

It's a custom hi-g "crash test" lens from a company that went out of business. It's a super wide angle. I used it on the widest shots you see in the film.
Bought it on ebay. Doubt you'll find another one easily! :embarasse
