I am hoping someone can help me. First time entrant running in to a little entry trouble. I've got my film finished and I'm all ready to make my first submission, but I am running in to the following problems trying to upload my film.

1. Fest Leader - All of the Fest leaders are showing up as a black frame (audio works fine.) 1 leader shows an image, but it's a static image and it should be moving. Any ideas what could be going on ot how I could fix that?

2. File Size - I exported the film to a .mov file and it's 89.6 mb. Does anyone know how to reduce that? (My editing program does not have the ability to export to .mp4)

3. On the Registration form, there are 2 fields for uploads. 1 of 2 & 2 of 2. Are we supposed to break our film in to 2 parts? Or is one for the leader and the other for the film? I just added the (unworking) leader to the start of the film. ??

Anyone have any ideas?

Unfortunately I'm not the one to help with the leader issue. They are playing fine for myself and for the people who have uploaded so far ... hopefully someone with more knowledge on this will be able to help.

You will need to adjust your compression settings to get within the 50MB limit ... what editing program are you using? You might check the most recent fest sub forums, there were a couple threads on suggested settings for some of the NLEs.

On the upload form the two fields are to allow for uploading the film (1 of 2) and a poster image file (2 of 2) if you have one. The poster is optional.

Okay, I figured out how to get the file size down below the 50 mark. I am submitting with my busted leader for now. I will continue trying to get one of them to work and resubmit my film if I am able to. (Would it be possible for someone in charge to take a look at the film I just submitted (Do Not Disturb) to see if the current leader would be acceptable? I'd hate to get DQed for not being able to get that to work properly. Thanks!

I sent a note to one of the Leader developers I know. He may be able to help?

Sounds like your NLE doesn't recognize or edit H264. Try to find a free video converter online to transcode it into something your NLE will work with.

Like this:

Forgive me for sounding like an idiot, but what does NLE stand for?

Thanks.

It means Non-Linear Editor like Final Cut, Vegas, Premiere, Avid, etc.

Oh okay, thanks. So my NLE would be Magix Movie Edit Pro 11. Got it. Thanks again.

Okay, with the assistance of some of the friendly folks here at dvxuser.com, I was able to get a leader on there that actually works. I will be resubmitting my film with the working leader. Do I need to notify anyone in particular that I am doing this so I don't get DQed for double entering the same film?

Nope, just re upload via the same link and input the same information, it will replace the existing entry with the new one and then notify us that the file is available for review.

Okay, well I resubmitted. Hopefully everything went through okay. Did it notify you that the file is available for review?
