My problem is pretty simple. I can record ONLY in tape! (480/60i, 24p etc) every other format i record in records graininess/snow to the footage! I even tried recording on Firestore and its the same thing! Graininess/snow in footage, even if i use firestore or p2 cards in standard def, graininess/snow!

Like i said Tape seems to be the only recording format where it doesnt get affected. The grainiess/snow is not constant either, it plays back perfectly for about 3 to 4 seconds then gets grainy/snowy for 2 to 3 seconds and back and forth.

Took the footage i recorded on P2 card and firestore, and played it on my other HVX and the grainess was there. So its obviously something wrong with the recording in the camera...

Anybody heard of this? ANy ideas as to what might be the culprit? Please any info would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.!

can you post a screen grab. If we could see we could tell you whether the type/amount of grain is normal and changeable depending on settings or if something is truly wrong.

will post tomorrow, gain settings is on low! I have shot before with high gain settings and have not seen that before. Sure the picture was noisy but no rolling snow for 2 to 3 seconds at a time

ok so had a panasonic service rep look at it, and it was the F*cking HD Codec board!
Ohh well! its in the process of getting repaired.

By the way to anybody in the Greater LA area, if your looking for somebody reputable and cheap to fix Panasonic Cameras (all types HD to mini dv) take a look at this company:

I use them all the time, but figured it was about time to spread the good news
