Anybody tested this kind of suction mount before, with or without a GH1?
The suction cups look good but I'm not too sure about the metal ring between the tripod head and the cups.
Thanks

Looks like an awesome deal for $50! Buy it before I do!

The ring gives me pause as well but it looks like it makes it adjustable, and the GH1 is pretty light so I don't see you having any problems.

I also found this (much more expensive but has pan & tilt):

I don't like the description though, not enough details

Those just don't look very secure to me. I have the Varizoom Autorig myself and even that gives me pause when I use it. I always tie and tape down the camera even more beyond what the Autorig comes with just to be safe. Those rigs you show here don't look like they give you anything to secure the camera with.

I've used one with the GH-1 from Filmtools and it works great.
Those suction cups look nice.
A couple of those with a cheese plate, some speed rail and some tie-down straps...

That glass carrier/auto dent puller is being recycled from another industry. That doesn't mean it doesn't work as a hood/window mount, it just might. However, I'm more worried about the 1/4" ball head/pipe clamp attachment. Even if your camera didn't fly off, it pipe clamp might slip and vibrate your camera into oblivion.
Yup.
I always try to have 3 points of attachment when putting up a car rig. 2 on the base, and one from the top if possible. That one single point with the weak ball joint and the weak pipe clamp would never pass the "grab it and shake it" test.

We had good luck with an HVX-200 on a tiny rig that was much less nice than these...it didn't even have the top levers for the suction cups, you just pushed down! Basically a shoelace for a safety line. Driving 25-45 with stops, etc, it worked just fine. 34-35 seconds has 2 quick shots from it...not stabilized in post...believe me, this rig was less nice than the ones posted here...it was a metal plate with 4 cups and like a little tiny rubber pedastal with a 1/4" bolt coming out of it
