Looking good, but am a little confused storywise. Heartstop - Don't Wake Me Up ... the band members acutally don't look like they would hang out with such girls.

lol... in truth they do..those extras we''re all family and friends ...we had everybody come out and help us...thats how low budget it was

The video was done very well. The only criticisms I have for it was that it was blurry at times, the white background on the band kinda bored me and didn't keep my attention visually, the lyrics weren't the greatest, and you needed to show more of the hot blonde chick. Overall, it looked like professional quality work. Good job.

I produce a television show for Cal State San Bernardino and have done wedding videography for over a decade. So yes, I've been behind a camera for some time. ;-)

The show is called Local Matters. Here is a link to some of the shows on youtube. So far our format has been pretty standard but this fall I'm going to shake things up a bit and revamp the entire look of the show. Here is a link.

The HeartStop - Don't Wake Me Up video I thought looked really close to professional, great job.
There were a couple of things I noticed:
- I know someone else mentioned it, but that blonde girl was just not the kind of girl you see in music videos (unless it's a rapper), for this kind of video I think a more 'plain beautiful' girl, without much makeup on, is more normal. Not a huge problem though.
- Something about the editing I would've done different, when the other band members are being picked up by girls too, at the end of the video, I would've cut to images of them in the 'band footage' just beforehand, so we knew who they were.
Those are my only criticisms story-wise, technically it looked great. Just one observation there too…
- There were background shadows. There's only one *really* amateur looking shot in that video and that's when the girl and lead singer are standing by the bar – the shadows are too noticeable. To a slightly lesser extent you see the same thing in the white room as well. I'm sure you know how to fix that though.

The one things I noticed in Heartstop - Don't Wake Me Up is there's continuity errors with the drums. In some shots there's a left-sided floor tom, on the wide shot it's not there; Unless it blended in with the back wall (they are similar colors), which seems unlikely.
And kind of Red Rock adapter are you using? And do you have to use step-up rings to mount it to the HV20?
k3vinTran_Dir
08-15-2009, 05:52 AM
hey andrew.. .yeh on the drummers close up he had an extra tom but for the wides he didnt use them at all because it would alter his performance. and i do use an adapter which happens to be a redrock thats why theres so much vignetting. and you do need step down rings to use it with the redrock...the hv20's thread size is 43 i believe so you would have to go from a 72 to a 55 then to a 43 for it to be compatible with the hv20..

I know nothing about Mexican culture or music, but I loved this video. It was joyful. That has a lot to do with the attitude of the main singer, he's great, and you did well to focus so much on him and the way he moves. I also love the depth of field effect. He really pops from the background. Did you use a DOF adapter of any kind or was it a telephoto lens? Also, did you augment or control the lighting on the main singer in the shots where he's wearing yellow? It seemed reflected up and even; however you did it, I liked the effect. Thanks for the link. You're doing really great work with an HV20. Very inspiring.

jurno,
thanks for viewing its always a pleasure to hear feedback from fellow filmmakers. i did use an adapter which creates unwanted vignetting(dark circles around a frame). the lighting that was done in his close up was done with a reflector pointing upwards towards him to take out the dark shadows which the hat on him creates. and a 50mm lens was used...50mm and a adapter seems to work the best for everyone so it seems
thanks again for watching
sincerly
